Somewhere I have read that the last version (8.8) is for Windows only and that the one for mac (8.72) is gone (I dont really know what the author meant by that).

Do any of you mac users use LISREL andor know from where can I get it EDIT: Thank you for your help I got Parallels (is it very different from VMWare), installed first Windows XP Pro SP3 on it and then LISREL 8.8 - for now it seems to be running fine.

About R: Im completely unfamiliar with it, but if I get deeper in research I guess Ill get my hands on it sooner or later.

I looked into it about two years ago, at the time R wasnt quite as advanced as lisrel but I found some instruction that showed the same analyses in R, lisrel and some other (amos perhaps).

Or you could use the windows version of Lisrel in a virtual machine.

In grad school, I took a statistics course that taught us SPSS.

By the end of the class, I was doing the analyses in R, and just going through the motions in SPSS.

For about double the effort, I got three times the learning, because I was forced to really understand the underlying concepts that were being taught.

Specific to the R recs, the course itself is likely taught in LISREL.
